Facility Development Strategy

The Manchester LFP Facility Strategy developed in June 2003 sets clear objectives and priorities for the overall facility investment up to 2006, and is aligned throughout to The FA's football development programmes.

The strategy has been developed after consultation and discussion with members of Local Football Partnerships (LFPs) and with key partners who will be involved in the implementation process.

The area covered by this strategy includes the area covered by the following local authorities (which together make up the Greater Manchester region): Bolton, Bury, Manchester, Oldham, Rochdale, Salford, Stockport, Tameside, Trafford, and Wigan.

Using a holistic approach, and to aid understanding of shared boundaries within County Football Associations, Local Authorities have been considered as a whole rather than split into catchment areas based on historical boundaries.

The Manchester LFP strategy will be a flexible working document with an annual review to measure impact and clarify the objectives, both at national and local level.

It is therefore envisaged that through considerable investment, significant improvements can be made to both existing and future provision for the long-term benefit of grass roots football in Manchester.
