A number of important changes have taken place within the disciplinary system ahead of season 2013/14 and it is essential that you familiarise yourselves with them as it is likely they will impact you at some point during the season.
- Suspensions arising from red cards will now commence 14 days from the date of the offence instead of 21 days as previously.
- The categories of football are now as follows: Saturday, Sunday, midweek, veterans, school, representative and friendlies. Now a player sent off in youth football will be suspended from either Saturday or Sunday football as applicable, and not from all youth football as before. For example, a player sent off for his U14s Saturday side may still play for their U14s Sunday side. Likewise it will mean that a player sent off on a Sunday morning for his U18s side would not be able to play for his open aged team on a Sunday afternoon.
- A player sent off during a friendly will be suspended from the next friendly fixture - even if the friendly is the following day or not until the following season. Serious/further misconduct reported during a friendly fixture may result in a suspension from all categories of football.
