Small sided football is on the rise. With more major league providers (such as Powerleague & Champion Soccer), competitions and new specific area based sole providers appearing all the time for recreational and competition purposes – more and more people from different walks of life and age groups are getting involved.

Eleven-a-side football will always be the overwhelming concern of The FA but we are also aware that football participation is changing. Recent years have seen a significant growth in the numbers of people playing Small Sided Football for fun, recreation, socialising and of course competition. The popularity of this format of football is a reaction to changing work and leisure patterns and a move towards ‘pay and play’ football.

As per 11 a side football, all small sided teams and leagues must be affiliated to their county FA to reap the benefits that can be offered. Affiliation for Small Sided Football is only slightly different than that of club affiliation, namely in the price. The cost is per slot (which is equal to 1 team) per 1 year season is £6 per slot/team. This covers the team for 12 months. Per league you must then pay an additional £25 per year for Players insurance – this is a 1 off payment (as is the £6 per team/slot).

The benefits of affiliation include:

•Being legally affiliated to Manchester FA.
•Public Liability Insurance cover with our partner company BlueFin, for every club.
•For the league they have at their disposal all of the links and contacts that Manchester FA can adhere to this includes Affiliated Referees and officials.
•Contacts with all local leagues, clubs and players.
•Promotion via our website and links.

We are currently in the process of putting together a new package for Small Sided Affiliation – so this WILL change in the next 12 months. Keep logging onto this page for more information.
