February’s Metrolink Team of the Month has been awarded to Curzon Ashton FC’s first team.

Currently sitting top of the Evo-Stik Northern Premier Division by 3 points, performances on the pitch have been terrific for the Tameside outfit. So much so that the team have only been defeated twice in the 12 games played in 2012.

The award, which was presented before the recent home fixture against Bamber Bridge FC, was accepted by manager John Flanagan with two of his players Matthew Kay (left) and Lee Blackshaw (right).

Manager John Flanagan was delighted with the award, “it’s been a great season so far and we all know the run in to the end of the season is going to be tough so being recognised by Manchester FA and Metrolink for the effort of the team so far is a terrific boost as we head into the final games of the season”

The evening ended as it begun, on a high note, with Curzon Ashton winning 3-1 compliments of two first half goals from Samuel Walker (9 and 37 mins) and a second half strike from Chris McDonagh (57 mins)

Curzon Ashton FC receive Manchester FA Award Shield and 10 x Umbro Footballs from our Award Sponsors, Metrolink in recognition for their efforts.
