Referee Development Team Vacancy

Manchester FA prides itself on our Referee Development Team (RDT) - a dedicated team of volunteers with a vast amount of experience in both refereeing and non-refereeing circles. That being said, the RDT remain acutely aware of the importance of adapting and evolving to ensure that it leads change.

As part of this commitment, there is a new vacant position within the RDT which is as follows;

•  Female Referee Lead

The role description for this post is below and any applicant should review this before considering whether to submit an application. 

Reporting to the Referee Development Officer, the roles feed in to our Referee Development Team who act as the workforce of the referee department. The team strives to maintain the three core values of Manchester FA; passionate, inspiring and professional - as will the successful applicant.

It’s an exciting, but challenging opportunity within a completely new role. A major incentive is to be part of a team that is highly regarded by The FA and grassroots football for innovation – typified by this role vacancy.

FEMALE LEAD ROLE DESCRIPTION

  • To support and develop all female referees in the county to inspire and motivate them to continue and progress in refereeing.
  • To assist the RDT in the delivery of  the highest quality referee development programme.

  • Develop an understanding of all female referee aims and objectives.
  • Provide ad-hoc support and guidance to female referees including email and other communication tools.
  • Encourage and support female officials through the online annual registration process.
  • Help to organise and deliver an all-female referee event to improve standards by mentoring and coaching match officials.
  • Act as a role model for female match officials in Manchester.
  • Provide a clear pathway for officials to progress into the Development Group or Academy, depending on suitability.

 

  • Have credible knowledge and experience in refereeing. (E)

  • Knowledge of The FA Refereeing Strategy. (E)
  • Excellent communications and presentation skills. (E)
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and team working skills. (E)
  • High level of administration and organisational skills with the ability to co-ordinate delivery. (E)
  • A full clean driving licence. (E)
  • Exude confidence. (E)
  • Excellent knowledge of Women’s football. (E)
  • Knowledge of Manchester FA Refereeing Membership Scheme. (D)
  • Experience of implementing policies, protocols and guidance. (D)
  • Able to efficiently utilise the FA IT systems. (D)
