A Liam Stuttard brace inspired Failsworth Dynamos to a 3-2 victory over Parrs Wood

A Liam Stuttard brace inspired Failsworth Dynamos to a 3-2 victory over Parrs Wood to win the Saturday Amateur Cup in what was a fiercely contested match at Shawe view on Friday.

Parrs Wood started the better of the two, Jack Timmons’ effort from the edge of the box looked to be looping in but the crossbar denied his side from taking an early lead.

Parrs Wood continued to apply pressure on the Failsworth goal, as McKendry’s close-range strike was inches from nestling the back of the net.

Just before the close of the half, Timmons looked certain to score through on goal but was denied by Failsworth ‘keeper Shenton’s excellent reaction save.

Half-time: Failsworth Dynamos 0-0 Parrs Wood Celtic

Failsworth Dynamos began to fight back in the second half and scored within ten minutes of the restart. A cross not dealt with by Parrs Wood, rebounded of their own player and the ball trickled over the line – for 1-0.

Failsworth’s lead was short lived as Pat Davin latched onto a through ball and equalised just minutes later as the game sprung to life.

Parrs Wood were hoping that they could now kick on from this, but Liam Stuttard scored twice from the penalty spot to give Failsworth a two-goal cushion in the game.

Parrs Wood felt hard done by from the second penalty as Failsworth began to take control of the final 20 minutes.

Davin grabbed a goal back to make it 3-2 just before the 90th minute mark, but it wasn’t enough as Failsworth held on to lift the 2019 Saturday Amateur Cup.
