Match Report: Radcliffe FC vs Mossley AFC

Finley Walker
Mossley A.F.C booked their place in this year’s Frank Hannah Manchester FA Premier Cup Final.

At a very rainy Radcliffe, Payne opened the scoring for ‘Boro on the 18th minute, calmly slotting the ball into the bottom corner to give the home team the lead. However, it took just six minutes for Mossley to reply as Mike Fish found room in the box and fired in to level the score.

The Lilywhites capitalised on this, taking the lead just three minutes later. Max Leonard found himself in behind the Radcliffe defence and rounded the keeper to place the ball into an empty net. Mossley then grabbed a third just before half time to make it 1-3, with Ben Halfacre’s curling free kick effort leaving Radcliffe keeper Ollie Martin with no chance.

A two-goal cushion meant a big second half was needed from Radcliffe, which they answered with a goal in the 53rd minute, making it 2-3. Substitute Tunde Owolabi drilled the ball in from a difficult angle to give Radcliffe hope of an equaliser in the final 35 minutes.

Radcliffe pushed hard for the third goal as Mossley began to defend deep in their own half. Substitute Rick Smith had the best chance to level the scoring with his effort flashing narrowly wide of the post.

With six minutes injury time added on, Radcliffe tried to bring the game into extra time but Mossley held on firmly to earn their place in The Frank Hannah Premier Cup Final.

They will face Curzon Ashton who ran riot at Chadderton winning 8-0 at the ARK Fleetech Stadium.

Details including dates and a venue will be announced in the coming days.
