FutsalFeb comes to Manchester FA

For the month of February, we are shining a spotlight on the world of Futsal.

Working closely with local providers of futsal, including clubs, leagues and recreational opportunities to participate, we will be bringing insight and content on the growing game.

Across the month, we will be speaking to futsal experts, players and encouraging players and clubs in Manchester to experience the fast-paced sport for themselves.
Kicking off #FutsalFeb at the beginning of the month, videos and articles will be shared across our channels to introduce the game and its history, and we will be previewing our inaugural Futsal Community Day on Sunday 10th February. We will be showcasing what futsal provision is on offer in Manchester and be speaking to those who play it week in, week out.

Andy Baker, Football Development Manager at Manchester FA, highlights: “We wanted to dedicate a full month of coverage to Futsal to show the growing sport in a positive light and encourage more people to get involved. Manchester is becoming a real hub for futsal development and we offer a lot of support to our Futsal clubs, leagues and players. We hope that #FutsalFeb helps us raise the profile of the game and showcase the range of futsal opportunities available across Manchester.”
At our Futsal Community Day, clubs from around Manchester will bring along their U10s and U12s boys and girls teams to the National Cycling Centre to take part in futsal matches and to learn more about the game.

Then, all attendees are invited to watch Manchester Futsal Club take on Loughborough in the FA Futsal Super League, which kicks off at 2:30pm. The elite futsal continues with MFC’s Development team fixture against Pro Futsal London in the FA Futsal Cup, from 4pm.

Throughout the day, our team will be bringing you live match coverage, interviews and insight, including conversations with players and coaches from all levels of the game, including Manchester Futsal Club, whose senior team currently sits in 5th place in the FA’s National Super League.

Simon Wright, Chairman of Manchester Futsal Club, explains: “We are all very much looking forward to Manchester FA’s #FutsalFeb and in particular, the Futsal Community Day itself. Futsal is flourishing in Manchester, so we are very optimistic that dedicating a full day of activity and coverage will mean that we can engage with people who are still unfamiliar with the game.

We welcome members of the public to come and watch our two games that afternoon for free, which we can guarantee will make for a very exciting afternoon of Futsal between some of the top teams in the country.”

All competing players and coaches will get free entry to watch the Manchester Futsal Club fixtures and will be supplied with wristbands on the day. Parents of players and members of the public will need to register here and enter the code ‘MFC-GAMEDAY824’ during checkout. Tickets will be limited to 300 attendees and those who do not register will have to pay full price on the day.

Across #FutsalFeb, we will also highlight Manchester FA’s regular futsal activity and show how you can get involved, including:

• Level 2 Futsal Coaching Course (commencing 10th February)
• Futsal Coaches CPD Event (26th February)
• Boys Youth Futsal County Cup Finals (15th and 22nd February)
• Girls Youth Futsal County Cup Finals (3rd March)
• Greater Manchester Schools Regional Futsal Finals (25th February and 1st March)

We will also be providing information on the rules of the game, including the FA’s ‘Five Elements of Futsal’, alongside signposting for clubs and induvial to Greater Manchester Futsal opportunities.
