2017 FA Community Day at AFC Urmston Meadowside.

August is Safeguarding Spotlight Month!

This August, we will be shining a light on the positive work done by Greater Manchester’s grassroots football community

This August, we will be shining a light on the positive work done by Greater Manchester’s grassroots football community to ensure that football is safe and enjoyable, for all.

As our clubs, leagues, referees and volunteers look ahead to the 2019/20 season, across the month of August, we will show the support that we offer as a County FA to the grassroots football community and how we work with volunteers across the game to deliver safeguarding best practice. We will also signpost to services and organisations that offer further support to individuals, clubs and leagues, and launch some exciting campaigns that will help us to continue to safeguard the grassroots game in Greater Manchester.

Lauren McCorry, Manchester FA Designated Safeguarding Officer, explains: “Safeguarding is at the heart of everything we do and is a constant focus for Manchester FA across the year. Week in, week out, we work with our clubs and leagues to ensure the highest standard of safeguarding excellence is being adhered to in the area. With the spotlight on safeguarding this month, we will share a glimpse of the work we do and show the areas we innovate in as a County FA, to constantly strive for the best standards in safeguarding in the country.”

As part of the month’s coverage, we will also accompany Manchester FA staff members on regular club visits and attend vital training sessions, such as the Welfare Officer Workshop in late August, to understand how everyone in Manchester plays their role in ensuring a safe and enjoyable environment, for all.
