Build up to FA Women's Football Weekend

The FA has announced the first ever Women’s Football Weekend, taking place on 16th and 17th November!

The news follows an unprecedentedly successful start to the Women’s Super League season, with 31,000 fans witnessing the Manchester derby at the Etihad Stadium on the opening weekend of the season.

Women’s Football Weekend will take place during the men’s international break, and one week after the Lionesses’ sold-out game against Germany at Wembley Stadium.

The FA is calling on supporters to capitalise on the opportunity to show their support and attend a women’s match at any level on Saturday 16th and Sunday 17th November, including Manchester City’s clash with West Ham United and Manchester United’s trip to Chelsea.

Here at the Manchester FA, we’re building up to the weekend by delving into the history of the women’s game, and highlighting the great work going on in Greater Manchester today, including playing opportunities provided by our leagues, getting to know local role models within the women’s game, and exploring the world of the Wildcats.

We’ll be bringing you coverage of all the action on our social media channels, which you can find here: Facebook, Twitter and on our website. You can also stream Manchester United and Manchester City’s games using The FA Player. Make sure to follow us so you don’t miss any of it!

Be sure to join in the conversation with the hashtag #MFAFFF (Manchester FA Female Football Focus), and if you’re going to a game, or you’re a club with a fixture, let us know!
