National Futsal Series comes to Manchester
The National Futsal Series (NFS) returns to the HSBC UK National Cycling Centre this Sunday.
Round Eight of the competition marks the start of the second half of the Tier One season, with fifth-place Manchester Futsal Club hosting third-place Loughborough Students Futsal Club Firsts.
Sergi Saldana’s Manchester side have sky-rocketed up the league table with three straight league wins, having claimed one point from their opening four matches.
Manchester Futsal Club also boast a place in the NFS Super Cup semi-finals, after defeating Bolton Futsal Club Firsts 5-2 last month.
This Sunday’s round of NFS fixtures feature three other top-flight matches, including table-toppers London Helvecia Futsal Club Firsts – who have won every match this season – taking on winless and rock bottom Kent United Futsal Club.
Alex West, Football Development Officer ‘For All’ at Manchester FA, told us: “Futsal is a game which is growing rapidly – both in Manchester and on a national level.
“To anyone curious as to what Futsal is, what it looks like and how the top players approach the game, I’d encourage them to get down to the FA National Futsal Series on Sunday.
“There are increasing numbers of opportunities to get involved in Futsal.
“At Manchester FA, we’re running a Level 1 course in coaching Futsal in early March, and a Level 2 course in April. For those looking to get involved in Futsal, this is a brilliant opportunity to immerse yourself in Futsal and pick up new coaching skills and techniques along the way!"
