If you thought football was played at 11-a-side on a Wednesday afternoon for the 1st & 2nd XI then you’re right...! But did you know that football leagues are now being played during lunch times, in students’ free periods and after College at 5, 7 and 11-a-side? Team19 is British Colleges Sport league system which allows all Colleges to have leagues and tournaments which suit the needs of their students.
The website is a great hub and allows students to track their teams progress through easily manageable leagues, show who the top scorers are and show who is top of the league come the final day of the season! The leagues that can be made allow students to choose how long they run for, how many teams can enter and in what format, so regardless of how much space you’ve got at College or how many players you have there’s something for everyone!
The leagues are run and administered by the students at the College, with the support of the College & Community Football Co-ordinator, College Teachers and Enrichment Staff. At the moment the Colleges who have leagues in place are currently playing for league titles in weekly fixtures between teams made up from subjects and departments. But there are also Cups being played for between Colleges in the local vicinity, and with a Champions League style format for winners of College Leagues & Cups from all entrants across Manchester, there is no better time to get involved!
For more information on how to get involved, you can email Alex Harvie alex.harvie@manchesterfa.com or contact the office on: 0161 203 2990 option 2.
