We’re delighted to announce that Manchester FA are recruiting for the 2018/19 Young Leaders Academy.

Manchester FA’s Young Leaders Academy is a group of young people aged 16-25 committed to improving football in Manchester. The Young Leaders Academy support Manchester FA to deliver projects and events as well as ensuring that young people in Manchester are given the opportunity to have their say. We strive to have an impact in the local community and provide a voice for young people in sport. This group also has a focus on developing volunteers not just to work in sport but also to be socially responsible. We offer our members a programme of personal development to complement their work, as well as continued support from Manchester FA.

An example project that the Young Leaders Academy were involved in during the 2017/18 season was working closely with Manchester Futsal Club to develop their Youth League. The young leaders coordinated fixtures and scheduling for the league, and then regularly attended to help facilitate the league every Friday night. This has allowed our young leaders to develop the skills they have learnt in a real life situation by taking on responsibility and working in partnership with adults for the benefit of others. 

Our young leaders are also represented at executive level within Manchester FA with members of the team sitting on Manchester FAs Board, Education, and Women & Girls’ working groups. This allows our team to raise issues that are important to young people in Manchester and has demonstrated the value of engaging with these audiences.
