Five officials chosen

Iber Cup 2015

It is with great pleasure that Manchester County can announce the five referees selected to attend the 2015 Iber Cup! 

Following a vigorous selection process the following referees have been chosen to travel to Portugal next year for the renowend competition:

  • Chris Bega – Level 4
  • Tom Danaher – Level 4
  • Ben Wyatt – Level 5
  • Paul Owen – Level 5
  • Sean Brady – Level 5

Chris Bega and Tom Danaher were selected through the newly developed Level 4 Advancement Group and the three remaining officials via the Manchester County FA Referees Academy.

All five referees completed a rigorous process prior to selection that included interview by a number of members of the referee development team.

Looking ahead

Referee Development Officer Chris Kavanagh will coach the officials throughout the tournament with County Development Manager David Coote and he was hopes to replicate the success of last season's competition.

"Following the success of 2014 I am delighted to have secured funding again for the 2015 Iber Cup," he said. 

"We will take five Manchester County FA officials in Portugal, all of who have worked extremely hard. All five deserve the opportunity that is before them.

"The hard work starts here."

Sean Brady is one of the referees selected to attend the 2015 Cup and he was thrilled to be selected.

"When I got the call off Chris I was absolutely delighted," he said. "It was a tough process but I cant wait to get to Portugal and referee in 2015."
