Kingsmaid Walking Football

A Walking Success!

Two days, 36 teams and 250+ players.

The Kingsmaid Walking Football Cup saw 36 teams from around the United Kingdom converge on the Etihad (Manchester Tennis & Football Centre) for two days of walking football fun. With four divisions, that included Over 50's, Over 60's and Over 65's the hugely popular event attracted in-excess of 250 participants.

Leggy Mambo's from Barnsley beat Manchester City 3-0 in the Over 50's Champions of Championships tournament and were also victorious in the Over 60's Cup against Wakefield, winning 1-0.

Luton Town won the Over 50's tournament against Manchester City 3-1 and Manchester City won the Over  65's, defeating Preston North End 2-1 in a tight final.

Manchester FA's Recreational Football Development Officer, Sarah Venning was extremely pleased with the well-organised event; "Kingsmaid Walking Football Club grew out of City in the Community's Walking Football programme. I would like to congratulate Kingsmaid on organising the 2017 Cup competition.

"Having spoken to a number of cup participants over the two days it was great to hear so many players from all over the UK talking about how they are enjoying their walking football. What always astounds me is the way keepers still throw themselves around. These guys are a marvel!

"Mark, Steve, all the referees and volunteers involved in running the tournament should be very proud of their efforts."

Manchester City’s Walking Football Team will now turn their focus to Salou in Spain for their next tournament in 2018. Good luck guys!
