FC United of Manchester claimed a 2-0 win over MFA rivals Curzon Ashton as both sides ended the match with 10 men at Broadhurst Park.

Curzon’s Joe Guest was the first to see red for a reckless challenge on Steve Irwin, and the visitors were made to pay as Irwin converted from the penalty spot in the 51st minute.

FC United were then reduced to 10 four minutes later when Kieran Glynn picked up his second yellow.

The hosts sealed the win with 18 minutes remaining with Connor McCarthy turning in Tyrell Palmer’s cross.

Salford City suffered their first loss of 2018 as Brackley Town defeated them 2-1 at St. James Park.

The Saints took an early lead through Aaron Williams, who nodded in Glenn Walker’s chipped cross.

A close-range header from Alex Gudger doubled Brackley’s lead after 17 minutes.

Jake Beesley tapped in Michael Nottingham’s ball late on, but it was no more than a consolation for the Ammies who saw their lead at the top cut to five points.

Play-off contenders Shaw Lane and Ashton United played out a goalless draw at Sheerien Park.

A brace from Alex Curran condemned Droylsden to a 3-1 defeat to Colne at Holt House.

Curran fired past Richie Branagan to open the scoring inside 23 minutes, before he added a second from short range shortly after half-time.

Stephen Hall pulled one back for the Bloods, but any hopes of a draw were quashed by Connor Hughes as he guided Bradley Knox’s cross into the net.

10-man Mossley were thumped 5-1 by Goole AFC as Jordan Turner netted a hat-trick at the Victoria Pleasure Grounds.

The game’s turning-point came in the 16th minute as Mossley’s Logan Jeffs was sent off for blocking Danny South’s goal-bound header with his arm, with Turner netting the resulting penalty.

Sam Colbear rose highest to head home from a corner to make it 2-0, before Turner tucked in his second penalty of the afternoon.

The Lilywhites did get on the scoresheet in the 66th minute when Liam Ellis bundled the ball home after Goole goalkeeper Ben Saynor spilled Jack Tuohy’s corner.

However, Turner completed his hat-trick with 15 minutes remaining before Colbear’s second header rounded off a miserable afternoon for Mossley.

Trafford were thrashed 5-0 by Bamber Bridge at Irongate.

Kieran Charnock headed in and Lewis Nightingale curled home a superb strike as Brig went into the break two to the good.

Regan Linney netted a third as he slotted past Grant Shenton nine minutes into the second half.

Chris Marlow and James Boyd added late goals for the hosts.

Abbey Hey slipped to a 3-2 loss at the hands of Congleton Town at the Abbey Stadium.

The visitors raced to a 2-0 lead inside 14 minutes thanks to goals from Oliver Ford and Declan Fletcher.

However, the Red Rebels fought back and strikes from Peter Watling and Lewis Haydock meant that the two sides were level with 35 minutes to play.

With the game seemingly heading for a draw, Fletcher grabbed the winner for the Bears with eight minutes to play.

Neville Thompson hit a hat-trick as West Didsbury & Chorlton lost 6-2 to Hanley Town at Abbey Lane.

Hanley’s Thompson hit two early goals, but Ben Steer halved the deficit for West.

Theo Stair restored the home side’s two-goal lead before Joe Shaw pulled the MFA outfit back into the game.

However, second-half goals from Dan Shelley, Mike Conlon and Thompson ensured that Hanley ran out comfortable winners.

Irlam and Maine Road both had their respective trips to Ashton Athletic and Bootle postponed due to the weather.

The fixture between Abbey Hulton United and Chadderton was postponed for a second week running.
