Curzon Ashton win the Manchester FA U18 Girls Youth Cup

Curzon Ashton have won the Girls Under 18 Youth Cup after a a 2-1 victory against Reddish North End.

It was a thrilling final with both teams playing an attacking setup from the get-go.

The first 15 minutes saw an evenly contested affair with chances at either end for both teams- this was until Reddish North End took the lead in the 16th minute, with a composed finish from Sithole in a one-on-one situation with the Curzon Ashton goalkeeper.

Curzon Ashton remained relentless and battled hard to try and get the equaliser. The rest of the half was seen out with plenty of chances for both teams, but it remained 1-0 to the home side.

After the break, both teams came out fighting with Curzon looking to equalise and Reddish looking to extend their lead. Curzon Ashton grasped the equaliser in the 55th minute with a curling left-footed effort from the edge of the 18-yard box by Cannon.

It was then a very hotly contested half an hour spell with both teams trying to break the deadlock. It was then a strike from Seagrave from the edge of the 18-yard box which beat the Reddish keeper and gave Curzon the lead with 2 minutes left on the clock.

Despite Reddish’s best efforts to bring it level once again, Curzon were able to see the rest of the game out keeping their 2-1 lead and were crowned champions of the Manchester FA U18 Girls Youth Cup.
