An entertaining final saw Gorton Panthers claim a 1-0 victory through Sam Pratt's strike just before half-time.

An all Hyde, Oldham & District Sunday Premier League final saw Limeside King George take on Gorton Panthers at The Project Solar stadium for the for the chance to win the Sunday Challenge Shield.

Limeside looked to be the stronger side at the beginning with early attempts from Traynor and Fagan but they were unable to convert the two chances. Shortly after, Cashmore came closest to opening the scoring for Limeside but saw his effort hit the bar. Despite the livelier start with a flurry of attempts from Limeside, it did not stop Gorton from trying to implement an attacking-style play.

The warning signs were there as Gorton were denied a goal for offside and before the half-time whistle it was Gorton who found a breakthrough. Pratt got played in behind the Limeside defence and was able to slot the ball into the bottom corner, giving the Panthers a one-nil lead at the break.

Limeside attempted to pick the pace back up after the break and came close to levelling the game with a cross-shot hitting the bar. Chances remained hard to come by as the game got scrappy with numerous yellow cards, with no forthcoming goal from either side.

Limeside chased an equaliser in the final stages, seeing an appeal for a penalty waved away by the referee after a collision in the penalty area. A frustrating evening for Limeside got worse as they finished the game with 10 men following an incident off the ball. Gorton saw out the game professionally, preserving their lead from the first half to be crowned as champions of the Sunday Challenge Shield.
