IWD2024

International Womens Day 2024

Mia Lazaro
Today is International Women’s Day (March 8), where we get together to celebrate women and girls around the globe.

IWD is an annual, international date that focuses on women’s rights whilst also celebrating social and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating women's equality.

First celebrated in 1911 by over a million people, IWD takes action to raise awareness about discrimination and inclusion.

The campaign theme for International Women's Day in 2024 is ‘Inspire Inclusion’, with the pose for this year being a love heart with the hands. The pose has been inspired after understanding that when difference is truly valued, then inclusion comes straight from the heart.

When we inspire others to understand and value women's inclusion, we forge a better world. When women themselves are inspired to be included, there's a sense of belonging, relevance, and empowerment.

As the world celebrates the  achievements of Women and Girls, here at Manchester FA, we are showcasing the very people who make a difference in football through their inspiring hard work.

All IWD activity is valid, that's what makes IWD so inclusive. Join in and make IWD your day by doing what you can to support and advance women.
