FA County Youth Cup 3rd round

Preview: FA County Youth Cup Third Round

This weekend sees Manchester FA take on Essex County FA in the third round of the FA County Youth Cup.

The match is set to take place at Ashton United Football Club on Saturday 8 December, kick-off at 14:00pm.

Previous Round

Manchester FA ran out 4-1 winners in the previous round, away to Durham FA. A brace for both Mani Ogunrinde and Anointed Chukwu helped secure Manchester FA’s place in the third round over a strong Durham County FA side. Essex County FA have come through two rounds already to reach this stage of the competition, scoring 8 goals in the process. In the second round, Essex County FA travelled to the Channel Islands for a first meeting with Guernsey, cruising to a 5-0 victory, to set up the third round tie with Manchester FA.

History

This is only the second time Manchester FA and Essex County FA have played each other, and you’d have to go back to the 1985-86 season to find the last time the two counties met. In that fixture, Manchester ran out 4-1 winners over Essex in the cup semi-final.

What it means

The winner of this game will advance to the quarter-final and will face either Berks & Bucks FA or Cumberland FA in the next round.

Tickets are available at Ashton United FC on the day, priced at £2 for adults and £1 for U16.
