Taylor Dyson scored a brace to inspire Manchester FA to their first-ever FA County Cup victory; beating holders Norfolk FA 3-0 in the final at Spotland on Saturday.
Anointed Chukwu opened the scoring inside a minute, before Dyson converted two long-range efforts either side of each half to seal the win and the trophy for Manchester.
Jamie Russell’s side took the lead shortly after kick off, with Chukwu stroking the ball into the bottom-right corner past Norfolk ‘keeper Connor Milligan in a one-on-one situation.
Dyson then added his name to the scoresheet and a second for Manchester 20 minutes later; cutting inside on the right flank and then firing a superb effort into the bottom-left corner.
Norfolk’s troubles nearly escalated even further just a few moments later, when Chukwu struck a close-range effort towards the bottom corner, only to be magnificently denied by the left hand of Milligan.
Half-time: Manchester FA 2-0 Norfolk
Manchester begun the second-half with as much venom they did the first, with Emmanuel Ogunrinde unfortunately lofting Dyson’s driven-cross over the crossbar from just six-yards out.
Manchester’s number nine had yet another opportunity five-minutes later, this time rounding Milligan before striking at goal, only to be denied by a Norfolk defender rushing back to clear off the line.
An hour into the game and Dyson and Ogunrinde looked to link-up again with the latter stretching to meet the cross, but his effort was fantastically kept out by the brave Milligan from point-blank range.
But with 10 minutes remaining, it was Dyson who grabbed Manchester’s third and sealed the win for the Claret & Blues; bending the ball with power and precision from the edge of the box into the bottom right corner.
The result means that Manchester are the 2018/19 FA County Youth Cup Champions for the first-ever time, despite Norfolk giving it a valiant effort.
