Walking Football World Cup

Manchester FA teams up to offer Walking Football start up package

Offer comes as Walking Football World Cup comes to Manchester

The inaugural Walking Football World Cup is coming to Manchester this May!

Taking place at Manchester City’s Academy Stadium on the weekend of 30th and 31st May, the event will bring together Walking Football teams from across the world. To celebrate, Manchester FA is offering a start-up package for clubs, charities, community groups and individuals who are looking to get involved in the game.

Walking Football is a proven way of helping people to get fit or maintain an active lifestyle, regardless of their age and fitness. Older people who are looking to get back into football are likely to see many benefits through participation: lower heart rate and blood pressure, lower levels of fat and increased mobility.

In addition to its many health benefits, Walking Football has a number of social benefits, too, with participants likely to meet new friends and spend time with like-minded individuals.

With the Walking Football World Cup on the horizon, Manchester FA and Lancashire FA, in partnership with GreaterSport, want to increase opportunities for people across Greater Manchester to access Walking Football in their local area.

That’s why we are offering start up package for clubs, charities, community groups and individuals who are interested in bringing Walking Football to their local community. We are offering:

- Equipment starter pack
- First Aid training
- £100 grant towards facility hire
- Walking Football World Cup Festival entry
- Access to tickets for the Walking Football World Cup Final

Applications will be considered for new provision of a minimum of 8 sessions and current Walking Football groups looking to expand their offer (such as female only sessions or new locations).
