Ensuring you have an in-date FA DBS Check

Are you working with anyone in football under the age of 18? Make sure you have an up-to-date FA DBS Check.

A DBS Check, or ‘Disclosure & Barring Service’ Check, is required for anyone aged 16 or above who is undertaking potentially unsupervised roles working directly with children and young people under the age of 18.

1. I coach an adult team & youth team. Do I need another FA DBS check?
No, you can use the one you have, if its in-date (three years)

2. We have 16 or 17-year-old players, can we DBS check our adult players?
No, they don’t have a regulated role so no there’s no eligibility

3. Can we DBS Check all committee members?
No, not in their capacity as committee members it’s not a ‘regulated’ role.  Only if they have a regulated role e.g. coach

4. I coach an adult team but have under 18 players in my squad. Do I need an in-date FA DBS Check?
