Debbie Tinsley wins Club Secretary of the Year Award

The Boothstown FC Secretary has won the first every Bernard Halford Club Secretary of the Year Award

Manchester FA is delighted to announce that the first ever winner of the Bernard Halford Club Secretary of the Year award goes to Debbie Tinsley of Boothstown FC.

A huge amount of nominations were received for this year's awards with 25 individual secretaries being put before the judging panel who decided upon the final results.

Due to current restrictions, a virtual presentation took place on the evening of the 10th February, hosted by Manchester FA's CEO Colin Bridgford, supported by a number of attendees from the club, representatives from the Manchester FA board and staff as well as Bernard's wife Karen, who formally presented the award to Debbie.

Finally once again, a HUGE congratulations to Debbie and the team at Boothstown FC. This is a thoroughly deserved award and we hope you are as proud of it as we are of you.

A special mention must also go out to the other 24 shortlisted secretaries who were nominated by their clubs. We simply could not do this without you.

You can catch the full presentation below!

The award is named in honour of Bernard Halford, who passed away last year at the age of 77. Bernard, who was affectionately known as ‘Mr Manchester City’, was renowned as a fan of the game at all levels; his passion for development within grassroots football matched by his love of the professional game.

Bernard served as Manchester FA’s Representative to the Football Association between 2005 and 2016, and received an Honourary Life Membership from Manchester FA in 2016. Bernard was also recognised by The FA for his 50 years of service to the game in 2010.
