It is with regret that we must confirm that tonight's Manchester FA Sunday Challenge Shield Final has been postponed due to the inclement weather and conditions brought by Strom Eunice.
Manchester FA have liaised with our independent Competitions Working Group as well as the host venue club Hyde United FC and it is felt that the most appropriate decision be to postpone tonight's fixture. We have tried to provide as much notice to this decision as possible whilst also considering the changing position in terms of weather however no real improvement to the current conditions are expected prior to this evenings kick off time.
The safety and enjoyment of visiting spectators and of course the participants themselves is our utmost priority and with local and national guidance to avoid travel were possible in place, it is not appropriate to ask individuals to travel for tonight's fixture.
A competition final should be the highlight of any competing clubs season and we would not wish the inclement weather to play a role in which ultimately, spoils the experience for all involved.
The rearranged date is Friday 18th March 2022 at Hyde United's Ewen Fields.
New programme information and match broadcasting details will be shared closer to this date.
We understand that this decision will be disappointed for those involved however we look forward to hosting the final on the rearranged fixture as above.
