Female Football Focus Month

Female Football Focus Month

In line with the upcoming Women's World Cup during July, we are running numerous events focusing on driving opportunities for females in football.

On the 22nd July, the Lionesses will kick off their World Cup 2023 campaign in Australia. Throughout this month, we want to bring the excitement of the tournament to home soil, with numerous events across Greater Manchester. The focus is around increasing education on the Women & Girls game and creating opportunities to get females involved in football.

Alongside this, we will also be releasing a NEW episode of our ‘Role Models’ series on YouTube throughout each week in July. The series started before the 2022 Euros and has continued as part of the legacy of the tournament. In upcoming episodes, we will be talking to an inspiring role model from Greater Manchester, who is involved in a specific area across the game and celebrating their success in football.

We will also be re-sharing across social media how YOU can get involved in football, within Greater Manchester!

Upcoming Women & Girls Events:

Monday 3rd July: Maximising Performance in Female Players

We are offering a free CPD for parents, players, coaches & volunteers that would like to develop their knowledge in order to maximise performance in female players. This will be open to all genders. We will be joined by GR Physio who will be able to take you through the menstrual cycle and how you can adapt your training to maximise performance and also discuss the prevalence of ACL injuries in female players. Our invited experts will be able to explain how you can use science to maximise your female players performance as well as give you best practice to take back to your clubs.

The workshop will be taking place on Monday 3rd July 2023 at Hotel Football, M16 0SZ, 6:30pm - 9pm.

Monday 10th July: Stepping Over The Sidelines Workshop

The FA ‘Stepping Over The Sidelines’ workshops are for women and girls of all ages and backgrounds who would like to get into volunteering and coaching within football. This programme is designed to allow women with transferrable skills and expertise from other backgrounds to inspire change within the youth game.

Your valuable insight from experiences outside of football may just be the advice our girls' youth team needs to progress their development and feel inspired to influence change within the game. You don’t have to be an expert to help our girls' youth teams gain confidence, learn new skills, and absorb some of your knowledge to further their growth through coaching.

The workshop will be taking place on Monday 10th July at AFC Urmston Meadowside, M41 8QA, 6pm - 9pm
