The Semi-final of the Frank Hannah Premier Cup took place at the Vestacare Stadium which saw Avro take on visitors, Curzon Ashton.

Avro sealed their place in their first ever Frank Hannah Premier Cup final following a 3-1 victory over Curzon Ashton in an entertaining semi-final.

Curzon started well in the early stages and created the first chance of the game as Sinclair danced through a couple defenders but was unable to place his shot on target.

The hosts however took the lead in the 14th minute when Ebhote headered in from a corner.

Following the goal, Curzon came close to equalising with Campbell shooting wide when being put clean through and Mols seeing his shot blocked superbly by the covering defender.

However, it was Avro who were able to double their lead just before half time through a good strike from Havern who converted from Crothers’ excellent cross and ensured his team went into the break with a two-goal lead.

Following the break, Curzon knew they had worked to do and managed to carve out a plethora of opportunities without reward.

Following a short disruption to the game, as a frog was removed from the pitch (a first for us covering the County Cup this season!) Curzon got themselves back into the game in the 75th minute as Mols headed in from a free kick that was swung in from the right-hand side.

The hosts however responded just 4 minutes later, showing their determination to reach their first ever Premier Cup Final. Kershaw scored a stunning goal, smashing in a superb strike from outside the box to restore his sides two-goal lead.

Avro saw out the final ten minutes in a professional manner to set up an exciting clash with Ashton United, in the final of the Frank Hannah Premier Cup.
