Young Leaders Academy

14-24? Passionate about being a voice for young people in football?

We are now recruiting for the Manchester FA Young Leaders Academy for the 2021/22 season:

Who are the Young Leaders Academy?

Young people are not just the leaders of tomorrow, but the leaders of today. Our mission is to empower youth leaders involved in football to develop themselves and others, in addition to being a representative voice for all children and young people involved in football across the County. The Manchester FA Young Leaders Academy are a group of passionate 14-24 year olds who represent the voice of young people within the County FA. We typically meet on a monthly or bi-monthly basis to support the County FA with their strategic objectives, providing the perspective of young people involved in the game, and offering development opportunities for our members to support their aspirations to become part of the future football workforce.

What sort of things do we get up to?

Previously, we have supported the delivery of County FA projects, workshops and events, aimed to support grassroots clubs and leagues to give young people a say in how these are run, and represented the voice of young people on different working groups within the County FA. We also devise and lead on our own projects throughout the season. Finally, we work closely with the FA National Youth Council to support their work in ensuring meaningful opportunities for all young people to develop themselves and positively impact the football community.

What are the benefits of being involved?

Being a member of the Manchester FA Young Leaders Academy provides fantastic opportunities to help you develop as a youth leader, as well as opportunities to develop others and the wider footballing community. You will have the opportunity to work on real-life projects and events, and have an impact on policies within the County FA which impact young people. This hands-on experience in the football industry can help you to boost your CV, gain key skills and expand your professional network. Each year, some group members will also be given the opportunity to attend FA Leadership Academy, a 12-month learning and development programme delivered by the FA National Youth Council.
