Referee Yasmin Saeed

Manchester Referee Selected For PL Remembrance Trip

Yasmin Saeed has been invited to represent The FA on the Premier League’s Remembrance Trip to Ypres, Belgium, to commemorate WWI.

The 2018 edition of the annual event will involve eight U18 female teams from the Premier League Clubs’ Community Programmes and will combine football with an educational element focussing on the role Women played in the First World War.

The Football Remembers Tournament is an initiative from the Premier League Charitable Fund and will be taking place across the 1st and 4th of December.
Over the weekend, Yasmin and two of her refereeing colleagues will take charge of fixtures between the Clubs as well as laying Wreaths at The Cloth Hall, Ypres, which was restored after being virtually destroyed by artillery fire during World War I.

On behalf of Manchester FA, Referee Development Officer Tom Elliott said “I’m extremely proud that Yasmin will be attending the Premier League Remembers Tournament on behalf of Manchester FA and The FA. I have no doubt that she will learn a huge amount about the sacrifices made by women involved in the War efforts and for football to be a vehicle for this just shows what life opportunities refereeing can provide.”
